Scheduling by Phone

Mr. Russell’s assistants are pleasant and understand how difficult this initial phone call may be. From the moment Mr. Russell’s assistant answers your call, our goal is to put you at ease. Mr. Russell’s assistant will require some basic information about the type of family law matter and various pertinent details, all of which will be kept 100% confidential regardless of whether you retain the firm and become a client.

We must run a straightforward conflict search, so you will have to provide your name, the adverse party’s name, and the name/title of any businesses owned by the parties. The initial consultation is scheduled during the call, pending there being no conflicts. Almost all conflict searches can be rushed and completed quickly during regular business hours.

Should Your Call Not Be Answered and You Leave a Message

Whether this is your initial phone call to schedule a consultation or if you are an existing client calling with a sensitive matter, Mr. Russell only trusts his team to provide you with the attention and confidentiality you deserve. Especially if you are calling for the first time, we do not want a stranger from an answering service to be your first point of contact with our law firm. Why We Do Not Utilize an Answering Service Before/After Hours

Why We Do Not Utilize a ‘Live Chat’ Function

We cannot provide any legal advice until a standard conflict search is cleared and you are speaking with Mr. Russell at a consultation. Live chat happens prior to conflicts being cleared. Similar to why we do not utilize an answering service, we also do not want your first experience with Mr. Russell and our firm to be a “live chat” with a complete stranger or an AI-run program. Again, you will be contacted as soon as business hours commence, if not earlier, to start the process of scheduling your consultation and obtaining legal advice from an experienced attorney.

Have Your List of Questions Ready

Mr. Russell or one of his associates will provide a very comprehensive consultation where you will feel comfortable opening up about your feelings, the case, and your goals, and all of your questions will be answered. Although the attorney will cover most questions you may have, you can make the most of your time with us by writing down your questions ahead of time. Doing so will ensure that your concerns are addressed and that you leave with your most important questions answered.

What Happens at the End of a Consultation

At the conclusion of the initial consultation, if you wish to hire Mr. Russell or an attorney on his team, you will be quoted an initial retainer and provided with a written retainer agreement. Once the retainer is signed and paid, we will commence work on your file. For some clients, the initial consultation may just be a first step to understanding the issues pertaining to your family law matter and your legal rights. If you do not want a written retainer, it is not necessary.

The Consultation is Entirely Confidential

Nothing will be mailed to your home or even emailed to you if you request same. Your consultation with Mr. Russell, his staff, or one of his attorneys will be kept 100% confidential. Nothing will be sent to your spouse or partner unless and until you review it, authorize it, and confirm it should be sent to your spouse.

Should You Provide Any Documents in Advance of the Consultation?

Nothing is necessary. In fact, many spouses/parties do not handle the finances or have copies of pertinent financial documents like tax returns in his/her possession. This is normal, and you are not at a disadvantage as all of this information and documentation will be obtained during the discovery process of your case. Should you have a prenuptial agreement, tax returns, or a financial statement for your assets/liabilities, it can be provided in advance to streamline the process. If you are considering a divorce, you should start gathering this information (if possible).
